Introduction

"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” — 2 Peter 3:18

There’s a divine expectation over every believer’s life. We were bought at a high cost—the precious blood of Jesus Christ—and because of that, our lives are not our own. We are called to live a life that reflects that price, walking in holiness, humility, and—most importantly—growth.

The Call to Grow

“You were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.” — 1 Corinthians 6:20

Spiritual growth isn’t optional; it’s a mandate. Just as we expect children to grow physically, God expects His children to mature spiritually. If growth stalls, it’s a sign that something is wrong—and action must be taken.

So what does growth look like practically? It looks like:

  • Daily time in God’s Word – not just reading a verse, but soaking in Scripture, meditating on it, and letting it transform your thinking
  • A consistent prayer life – not just talking to God, but listening, seeking His will, and cultivating intimacy with Him.
  • Regular fasting – denying the flesh and tuning in to the voice of God with greater clarity.
  • Worship and repentance – keeping your heart aligned with God and quick to turn back when you’ve strayed.

Are You Still on Milk?

“I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it.” — 1 Corinthians 3:2

Paul rebuked the Corinthians for remaining spiritual infants when they should have been mature. Many of us remain in that place—relying on others for spiritual feeding, rather than developing our own appetite for God.

The truth is: no one grows by accident. It requires effort, intention, and daily choices that feed your spirit.

Don’t Let Distractions Stunt Your Growth

‘Everything is permissible for me’—but not everything is beneficial.” — 1 Corinthians 6:12

The enemy doesn’t always tempt us with sin. Sometimes, he just distracts us with things that keep us from God. Social media, endless entertainment, busyness—they aren’t evil, but they often aren’t fruitful either.

To combat this:

  • Audit your time – Where is your energy going? What’s feeding you?
  • Establish a spiritual rhythm – Build a weekly plan for Bible reading, prayer, and fasting. Be intentional.
  • Simplify your life – Cut out the excess so you can hear God clearly.

Store Your Treasure in Heaven

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” — Matthew 6:21

Our hearts follow what we value. If we prioritize earthly things, our affection drifts. But if we value God’s presence, His Word, and His purposes, our heart will stay anchored in eternity.

Choose today to invest in heaven. Grow in grace. Don’t let another season pass in spiritual pause.

Reflection

How is your spiritual health right now? What are your daily and weekly practices feeding—your spirit or your flesh?

Prayer

Father, thank You for calling me into a life of growth. Help me to hunger for Your Word, to seek You in prayer, and to discipline my flesh through fasting. Let me grow in grace, not just in knowledge, but in depth of love, maturity, and obedience. May I live a life that honors You fully. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
